Denim Trends in 2016...........

Denim Trends in 2016…………….

No article of clothing aptly represents chic style, better than a pair of well fitted denim Jeans . Denim has evolved over the last century......... especially the last decade and how!!!! 2016 is bringing in denim in various avatars. Here are some of the must have denim trends………………

1) The frayed look – the latest is to have denim tops, shirts, jeans and jackets with frayed edges. This is a really hot and never seen before trend and definitely a look to add to your collection

2)   The denim dress – An all denim dress, it could be a shift dress or a long shirt kind of dress, in a single shade of blue or having more than one shades of denim, is the rage……… Denim dresses look great with a neutral belt, teamed with flats, shoes, pumps , platforms or sandals. The denim dress has even made its presence felt on the red carpet in full length gowns, so definitely a trend to watch out for……

3) Denim shoes – The fad this year, these are ”the fashion cult of 2016” to have….. be it sneakers, flats, platforms, boots, wedges, stilettoes, slip ons… and that’s not all. Denim shoes can be coupled with leather, glitter, metal, gold, print and everything else that you can think of… Grab a pair and rock in stylish comfort!!!

4) Denim Purses, bags and clutches – A purse for a casual day out or shopping………….. a clutch with or without embellishment for a formal evening. I own a bold hand painted denim clutch  and not only is it one of my most prized possessions, it’s very versatile too……….

5)The printed or floral denim – printed denim jeans have been around for quite some time but denim in prints can be seen now in shirts, jackets and dresses. It can be worn as print on print though my personal favourite is pairing with something plain white and a solid coloured  blazer......

6)Denim on Denim on Denim – till date it has been denim on denim, but a really happening trend this year is layering  denim with more denim. It’s a supercool style, looks fabulous especially if teamed with boots in brown or black. No accessories needed, it’s a fashion statement in itself………… just carry it off with attitude and a casual hairdo………. and keep rocking in 2016!!!!!!!!

Different ways with skirts…………………

Different ways with skirts…………………

Full length mermaid denim skirt

From little girls in skirts and pigtails , to teenagers in mini’s to women in pencil skirt suits ……………… the “skirt” has always been a female’s wardrobe essential and how!!!! So many types, styles and materials to experiment with, variable hemlines to play around with ………. of course it’s every woman’s dream to get the ultimate skirt for herself and don it impeccably.  If teamed right, it is possible to look completely different when wearing different types and styles of skirts.

Pencil, straight, mermaid or fishtail, mini, midi, full length, pleated, gypsy, umbrella……………..which is the perfect one for you and your body type and what best to team it with ???

Pencil skirt-  casual with denim jacket

Chic with floral

The Pencil and straight skirts look good on almost all body types and are in fact ideal for women who are slightly heavy in the middle, provided it is layered properly. Wear them with slightly loose shirts or tops, tucked in or otherwise.

Pair with a blazer for a formal official look, a knitted top for informal wear and dress it up with a sequined top and pumps for party wear....... or don a denim jacket for a casual look or look chic with a floral one............

The mermaid or fishtail is fitted till the knees and flares below. It can be knee length or full length. It pairs best with slightly fitted tops and T’s.

The mini is of course for the ultra slim and can be worn over tights or leggings too. They look fab with stilettoes or boots. Teenagers can even carry them off with sneakers.

The pleated skirt can be a bit tricky to wear as they tend to sit around the waist and then flare till below the knees. It can be worn with a fitted shirt or a high neck tight top in a solid colour which should ideally be tucked in. If you are still unsure of the look, throw on a short jacket or blazer which matches either your skirt or your top and you will immediately get a slimming effect……………

The pleated skirt can also be worn with any shirt which is figure hugging and not loose and the colour of the top can be a contrast, to make the pleats stand out……….. It can also be paired with a crop top.

The gypsy skirt is best for casual wear, be it plain or printed. When wearing this style, complete the look with only one printed item, be it the skirt or top. It can be a simple gypsy which falls as a midi from the waist down or a knee length one with horizontal panelling. The midi looks fabulous on any body type, especially with a layered affect. Or try accessorizing with a knotted stole or a belt worn over your blazer to stand out............

For winter wear, skirts can be worn with knee length or ankle length boots and accessorized with tights, shrugs , stoles and blazers. The 10 Must Have Summer Jackets

The Summer Jacket…………

Imagine , for whatever reason , if you had to abandon your entire wardrobe and were given the choice to pick up any one article of clothing, then what would you choose??? Maybe some would choose their favourite pair of jeans, others a dress or saree……………while I would definitely pick up my summer jacket/blazer…………… and more than one, if permissible!!!!!!
That is the one garment that I droll over , literally………… And no matter whether I am watching a movie or TV or in real life, I am always looking out for short, unique and stylish blazers...... What my son declared to be the height of all heights was when I was watching a football match with him and I noticed a fabulous blazer worn by a woman in the audience…………… rather than the players or their shoes and their costumes!!!!

I am guilty as charged but why not adore that one piece of clothing that gives you a distinctive style, uplifts almost every outfit and is as versatile as it gets…………… The supercool Summer Jacket or Blazer !!!   And it’s great value for money because it almost never goes out of style and can be worn over a variety of clothes. What I like about this garment is that it is at the same time formal, official, semiformal, casual, sexy, chic and sophisticated………… depending upon what you team it with …

If paired with a pair of trousers, blazers are an ultimate choice. Together they rock !!!!!  For formal or office wear, straight pants, trousers and even solid coloured palazzos work very well with short blazers, worn over a shirt. There are limitless possibilities of these. To master the art of power dressing and establish your fashion style in a professional setup, add a well fitted blazer to cigarette pants or pencil skirt and scream confidence.............

The one, 'must have' wardrobe essential for all seasons and occasions is the denim jacket……… it is literally the “little black dress” of “Jackets”.

Wear it over jeans----------------- Cool
Wear it over trousers------------ Sophisticated
Wear it with skirts---------------- Chic
Wear it with dresses------------- Stylish
Wear it over a Halter----------- Camouflaged
Wear it with a Kurti------------- Trendy
Wear it while travelling-------- Happening
What more can I say to advocate this article of clothing and bless the day I bought one..........

The Floral jacket is another lovely garment ensembled with anything plain…………  a dress, skirt, trousers, jeans or jumpsuit. Anytime you come across a distinctive floral blazer or jacket, just grab it and dress it up or down according to the occasion . Wear it as a statement garment and skip all other accessories.

The black blazer, your quickfix for almost all occasions and dresses..................powerful, potent and impressive. Another statutary colour is beige, camel or brown. Its mutable and has diverse usage…..

The white jacket for the monochrome look and the power dressed look. There is something about this pristine colour which is so striking that you cannot help but leave an impact. Play around with almost any colour paired with a white jacket, accessorize and you have a striking attire.

Another important must have is a yellow blazer, its eloquent, striking and groovy and so ‘in’…………… what with ‘Yellow being the new Black’……… so a must have whenever you want to have a style that is stunning and speaks of oodles of confidence……

To bedazzle everyone, an asymmetrical shiny silk jacket is a prodigious choice for party and night wear. The richness of the material, the unusual cut and  glittery shoes in burnished gold together make an incredible impression with an underplayed attire in solid colours. An open styled or zipped up jacket are both kind of regal garments to indulge yourself in…………

Then there are the red, orange or maybe even the neon blazer……… wearing one whenever you are feeling low will make you look and feel resplendent…….... These colours do make us feel bright and radiant and just plain happy………

Invest in the ultimate go-to piece - the leather jacket. You can go suede for days with tans and buttermilks, cropped cuts and punched-out leather. For evening and night wear, wear stunning black in leather.

When you want to bring out the Temptress in you, don that animal print jacket and set your surroundings ablaze…………

The Linen Jacket, maybe in a pretty pink or vivid green is definitely a summer must have, to make you feel exquisite and utterly feminine

There are jackets with and without embellishments, pick up according to your style and preference. Pale leathers and pretty prints transform biker and bomber silhouettes into the perfect staples for the season.

These jackets are the ultimate work pieces..........and the ultimate after-work piece!!!!! Shop your shape woman and stay trendy, in vogue and powerful on and off the street.
